A loving mother

Rachel Kent, president of RU for the Troops, forwarded me an article from the NY Daily News on the deployment ceremony for the 529 Movement Control team. Here's just a bit:

[A Staff Sgt.], who is finishing up the semester at Baruch College, said he's ready to go to war because he wants everyone to have the opportunities he has.

"We're trying to ensure that they can have a meal in peace and be thankful for their freedom," he said.

His mother, Marana, tries to keep her fears under wraps. "It's hard," said the Brazilian immigrant. "My son is God's gift to me. But I also love this country."
